        Early Career Researchers Launch Event


        Gain valuable information about developing your research career.

        The Early Career Researchers (ECR) Network Launch Event is open to anyone beginning their research career in OR, from final year PhD students and post-doctoral students to academics with under 5 years' experience.?

        The event will launch our new network, bringing together those embarking on their academic careers to share their successes, challenges and experiences. The Early Career Researchers Network will be run by ECRs for ECRs.

You will have the opportunity to hear from and interact with experienced academics as they share their personal insights and advice on how to build a successful academic career.         Belen Martin-Barragan
        University of Edinburgh

        Dr. Belen Martin-Barragan, Reader in Management Science at the Business School. Her main line of research can be described as using Operational Research tools, new mathematical programming formulations and metaheuristics, to obtain context-dependent solutions to real-life problems arising at the interface of optimization and data analysis.

        Laura McDonnell
        UKRI ESRC

        Laura McDonnell manages the OR research area for the ESRC. She will be joined by Mark Jenkinson (ESPRC) as they share their top tips for making your grant application stand out.

        Duncan Robertson
        Loughborough University

        Dr Duncan Robertson is a Lecturer in Management Sciences at the School of Business and Economics, Loughborough University and a Fellow in Management Studies at St Catherine’s College Oxford.? His main research interest is agent-based modelling applied to strategic management and policy issues.? He has recently been involved in interpreting the spread of COVID-19, and is interviewed each week on BBC local radio to provide a COVID-19 update to listeners.?

        Maria Battara
        University of Bath

        Maria Battarra is a Senior Lecturer in Management Science at the University of Bath, School of Management. In 2010, she obtained a PhD from the University of Bologna in Operational Research and she specialized in the study of combinatorial optimisation problems.?

        Christine Currie
        University of?Southampton

        Associate Professor of Operational Research in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton, UK, where she also obtained her Ph.D. She is Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Simulation. Christine co-chaired the 9th UK Simulation Workshop, SW18. Her research interests include mathematical modeling of epidemics, Bayesian statistics, revenue management, variance reduction methods and optimization of simulation models.
